Revelers Party on New Orleans Mardi Gras Webcam
The people of New Orleans are soaking up the party spirit as they celebrate Mardi Gras. The festivities have already started, lasting in total for about two weeks, and culminating on Fat Tuesday or 21 February.
It’s not known how long Mardi Gras has been celebrated in New Orleans, but it is thought to have started before 1743. In 1875 it was declared a legal state holiday, and it continues to this day as an important aspect of the local economy.
The weekend before Mardi Gras, the population of New Orleans doubles with all the tourists that come to town.
Even at 4:30am, the streets are still busy! And Fat Tuesday is still four days away! Laws that prevent people from concealing their identity are temporarily suspended for Fat Tuesday, as people dress up in extravagant costumes and masks. There is usually one major parade for each day of the celebrations. Some days there are several! And, of course, you can watch it all on webcam.
You can check out the Mardi Gras webcam here. The webcam streams from the heart of the action on Bourbon Street.

Tawny Owls Webcam Goes Live at Sculthorpe Moor Reserve
Who doesn’t enjoy watching a tawny owl rest? Well, you can do that by watching the tawny owl webcam at Sculthorpe Moor Community Nature Reserve. The webcam was set up by the Hawk and Owl Trust.
Let the poor bird get some rest!
It is hoped that the webcam will stream some eventful footage over the coming month, because tawny owls normally lay eggs in February or March. The eggs hatch around 33 days later. The owl box shown on webcam has been occupied for two years, and there keepers at the reserve are confident some chicks will arrive this year.
This isn’t the first webcam set up by the Hawk and Owl Trust. Regular Camscape readers will remember the peregrine falcons of Norwich Cathedral. The Trust installed a nesting platform for the peregrine couple last year. Now the webcam has been upgraded and it is hoped that the falcons will produce their first brood in late April.

UFO Spotted on Webcam in NYC Skies!
On 31 January, 2012, possible UFO activity was spotted by a webcam viewer looking at the New York skyline. The viewer uploaded pictures of the UFO to YouTube accompanied with some eerie sounding music!
Another UFO hunter based in Montana, William Puckett, believes that the flying objects may not be extraterrestrial, but could be from a parallel universe! He is a retired meteorologist and used to work for the Environmental Protection Agency. He is currently investigating UFOs in New Jersey that have been seen over the past year.
They've come to study us! Waah! Webcams have been used frequently by UFO hunters. We featured on Camscape a UFO webcam in Norway last year.
Other explanations do exist for the UFO that appeared in New York. Since the webcams only updates every 30 seconds, the objects could be something like an airplane that is elongated due to moving fast.

The longest running scientific experiment ever now in front of the webcam
Way back in 1927 Professor to show an experiment set up Thomas Parnell of the University of Queensland, as some materials have strange and fascinating properties. The pitch drop demonstrates experiment such as pitch, a derivative of tar, although he apparently actually fixed a liquid at room temperature. It is only a very slow moving liquid! You can now see this experiment on webcam.
While the substance can be divided easily with a hammer, the experiment shows the pitch drops down a funnel into a beaker. It took eight years for the first drops of the pitch to take the Cup. 80 Years later, the ninth drop begins only now to make.
An interesting fact about the experiment is that nobody has actually seen in the 80's, he was executed that you hit the drop Cup. This webcam is sure to change this!
This drop is made every year the beaker!

These packages must be checked and verified each time that subject. The results of these reviews will be tracked in a database. Webcam shows Robot and Chicken in Motel Room
What happens when you leave a robot and a chicken alone in a motel room? That is the question that has been posed by Adult Swim, a US cable network that mostly shows animations aimed at people aged over 18. Perhaps the webcam will be able to answer the question.
Thankfully the robot and the chicken appear to be getting along.
It has been set up to celebrate the soon-to-be-aired 100th episode of Robot Chicken, an Emmy Award winning sketch comedy. The webcam will only be live for five days, but will feature special guests throughout that time.

Edinburgh Zoo Launches New Giant Panda Webcam
Edinburgh Zoo has recently unveiled a new webcam, featuring two giant pandas. It offers anyone the chance to watch these rare animals, although they can be difficult to spot! It is the first time in 17 years that giant pandas have lived in the UK.
Tian Tian and Yang Guang were a present to the zoo from the Chinese government. They took a long trip from China to Scotland in December. Their zoo keepers have reported that both pandas appear to have settled in well. The webcam has been hidden inside their enclosure so as not to disturb them.
One of the pandas takes a leisurely walk outside. Yang Guang was briefly taken off public display because he suffered from colic, an illness which is common in younger pandas. Thankfully, it is not serious and with medication he will be right as rain after a couple of weeks.
Edinburgh Zoo keepers (and webcam fans!) hope that the two pandas will mate and produce some little baby pandas.
You can check out the two pandas on Edinburgh Zoo’s panda webcam. They recommend that you tune in between 11 am and 3 pm GMT.

New Bald Eagle Webcam from Richmond
Today, a new webcam from the Center for Conservation Biology in Richmond will go live, offering Internet surfers a look into the life of a couple of bald eagles.
The nest that will be shown on webcam was built way back in 2001. The same eagle couple have used the nest over a decade, and in that time have produced 18 chicks. Fingers across for some more in 2012, preferably live on webcam!
The bald eagle population in the local area has grown significantly, as 40 years ago there wasn’t any bald eagles around at all. Thanks to conservation efforts, in 2011 that number had grown to a whopping 174 pairs of eagles.
Hopefully the new webcam will be giving us great images like this one. Be sure to tune in!
This isn’t the first eagle webcam the Center has set up. They also have a eagle webcam at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens, which is currently off-line. The success of that webcam inspired the new one.
