Largest US dam remove project on six webcams

Recently, the United States has started two reservoirs, in what is the maximum distance project in U.S. history to remove. Elwha see the three year project both Glines Canyon dams away at the same time the River Elwha again can flow freely. The project began this month and is via broadcast on more than six different webcams.

The two dams were built in the 1900s to generate electricity for the region. In the course of time, the concerns of power generation on ecosystems and fish stocks have changed. Both dams strongly limit Habitat for fish and other sea creatures, so the desire to remove them.

Bring in bulldozers!

The removal of the dams created 70 miles of spawning and rearing Habitat for fish. It is predicted that this means that the salmon population of 3,000 to 400,000 will increase. This increase in support also other types, a varied source of marine life make the river again.
