The Webcam is located on Kala Patthar, a mountain in the Himalayas, at an altitude over 18,000 feet. This point of view it gives a clear and spectacular façade West of Everest view when conditions are good.
With no practical means of electrical outlets up there, the Webcam is solar energy. It is only active during daylight hours. MOBOTIX is the company that provided the Webcam of type-M12. It is designed to deal with some fairly difficult weather conditions such as the dynamiting of the winds and freezing temperatures.
Live Webcam of Everest is part of the Everest research project part 2011 which is collection of climate and environmental information on the famous peak. This Webcam is good news for armchair mountaineers.
